Faith of an old chick...
I saw this in a whole new way...
"By faith, barren Sarah was able to become pregnant, old woman as she was at the time, because she believed the One who made a promise would do what he said. That's how it happened that from one man's dead and shriveled loins there are now people numbering into the millions "Hebrew 11:11
I have read this so many times, and never saw the “by faith, barren Sarah” part. For some reason I always thought it was Abrahams faith. Every time I thought of Sarah, I was reminded of her “faith failings” Do you remember? She told her husband Abraham to have a baby with her maid Hagar. THEN when Hagar became pregnant, Sarah didn’t want her in the house anymore and sent her away. Even worse was when God came to their camp and told Abraham that the following year his wife Sarah would be pregnant. Her response? She laughed! And then when confronted about her response? She lied and said she didn’t laugh! What’s with that? I think I kind of wrote her off as weak and thought “that poor Sarah” had to rely on old Abe’s faith which didn’t waver.
But Hebrews 11:11 tells me that Sarah had faith!!! I began to get so excited!! Because I think I can really relate to Sarah’s “faith failings” Probably more than I want to admit!! But she didn’t let that stop her – in the end “by faith” she held the promise in her arms!! Powerful…somewhere along the way, Sarah let go of the doubt, fear, condemnation and shame, and just Believed!
So...if an old chick with lots of "faith failings" can believe God and hold the promise in her arms...guess what? So can you!!
Go ahead and rise up today...determine to leave a legacy that says "by faith, (your name) became pregnant with the promise, because she believed the One who made the promise would do what He said!!!!
